Course Description

The General Proficiency English program offers courses to develop the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The classes also focus on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, and emphasize the communicative use of language. Courses are taught at six levels of proficiency from Elementary to Advanced. Students take a placement test on arrival to determine the level of study. All courses include lessons in the computer laboratory using the Internet and other computer assisted learning materials.

Objective

By the end of this course participants should be able to:

  • Read articles on subjects of general interest - whether local to Brussels or on European topics
  • Review grammar and vocabulary so that you are able to speak with more accuracy
  • Listen to news and general interest programs so that you improve your ability to understand
  • Practice speaking in groups in order to gain confidence by using the language
  • practice speaking in real-life situations such as networking events, professional meetings and discussions
